The joint meeting with the Northern California group has been cancelled for this year.

Bay Area Satsang Meeting September 20
Here are some things to get on your
calendar:
The first meeting of the Bay Area Satsang group will be on
Sunday, September 20, 2015, 3:00 - 5:00 pm.
We plan to meet at our usual meeting place at
St. Philip's Episcopal Church (5038
Hyland Avenue, San Jose [
map]), but may need to change the location, as we will try to set up a Skype connection for one of our participants. Watch for a location update, or contact
bayareasatsang@yahoo.com for information.
Betsy, Jackie, Reina and Pamela will lead the session, sharing from
their experiences at the Satsang last June.
FOR NEXT YEAR, the dates of the retreat and Satsang will be
June
11-19, 2016,
so you might add that to your calendars now.

Here are the dates for our 2014- 2015 season.

September 2014 meeting

Annual Retreat and Satsang
This week, many of our group members are attending the annual retreat with Sr. Ishpriya on the Russian River. The silent retreat is followed by the Satsang group gathering. The retreat this year runs from Sunday to Wednesday (June 14-18), and the Satsang goes from Wednesday afternoon through Sunday Morning (June 18-22).
For the first time, Satsang members were asked to attend both sessions, as the work of silence and reflection during the retreat enables the Satsang gathering to be deeper and more focused.
At the Satsang meeting, the group will be looking at dates for our regular gatherings throughout the coming year. Those dates will be shared here as soon as they are set.

Summer Retreat and Santsang
Sr. Ishpriya, founder of the International Satsang Association, will be in Northern California this coming June. She will be leading a silent retreat and then meeting with the members of the California Satsang groups for our annual Summer Satsang.
- Retreat: June 5 -9, 2010
Retreat will begin with the evening meal on Saturday, the 5th and end after breakfast on Wednesday, the 9th
Cost: $325 - Satsang: June 9 -13, 2010
We will begin with the evening meal on Wednesday, the 9th and close after breakfast on Sunday, the 13th.
Cost: $170.
Both will take place at St. Joseph's Camp on the Russian River

California Satsang June 12-16, 2009
We were delighted to have members of all three California Satsang groups--
South,
North, and Bay Area-- together at the
House of Prayer in Carmel, California for the Summer Satsang. Sr. Ishpriya was with us, along with Gitti and, for one day, Hubert Hesse. We had the opportunity to talk with Hubert and each other about the ways that Satsang contacts can be extended through the Internet and blogs like this one.
Sr. Ishpriya's
Pravachans (reflections) invited us to consider what it means to commit to "spiritual awareness and practice," in the transformative journey. She reminded us that Satsang is not a community "in the Western sense," but a place to meet companions who are seeking to stay on the same track. On the third day, she took advantage of the fact that it was Patrick's birthday to consider the way that birthdays mark our steps along the spiritual journey.
The days included times for meditation, reading, and conversation, as well as opportunities for walking on the beach or wandering the beautiful grounds of the House of Prayer.
Our evening gatherings created space for us to talk more deeply about our personal experiences and to learn from one another's insights. "When have you experienced a moment of clear awareness?" "What is the question that drives your life?" "How might the members of Satsang around the world be connected more meaningfully?"
For quiet spaces, for good companions, for delicious (vegetarian) food, and for the hospitality of the House of Prayer, we are all grateful!
