We have now consolidated the website for the Bay Area Satsang group into a new page that covers all of the groups currently in the USA.

The new site can be found at www.satsang-usa.org/, and includes links and information for Bay Area Satsang, Monterey Area Satsang, Northern California Satsang, and Southern California Satsang.

New information will be added as the new organization of Satsang takes shape.

Summer Retreat and Santsang

Sr. Ishpriya, founder of the International Satsang Association, will be in Northern California this coming June. She will be leading a silent retreat and then meeting with the members of the California Satsang groups for our annual Summer Satsang.

Retreat: June 5 -9, 2010
Retreat will begin with the evening meal on Saturday, the 5th and end after breakfast on Wednesday, the 9th
Cost: $325
Satsang: June 9 -13, 2010
We will begin with the evening meal on Wednesday, the 9th and close after breakfast on Sunday, the 13th.
Cost: $170.

Both will take place at St. Joseph's Camp on the Russian River

We had a great meeting on Sunday, September 20th.

We decided to continue the discussion that we started taking off from the story in Acts 10 and 11 about Cornelius and Peter and Peter's vision not to "call anything unclean which (God) has named clean" The questions we were invited to ponder and work with between now and our meeting in November are:

1) In your own life, who are the "Gentiles?"

2) What changes in attitude/action toward them are you called to?

3) What might your reaching out to them look like?

Please feel free to modify the questions to fit your situation.This will be the springboard for our conversation at our next meeting on November 8th.

Global Oneness Project Films

GLOBAL ONENESS PROJECT

The Global Oneness Project has put together a selection of their short films on two DVDs and will send one or both to you for free anywhere in the world IF you agree to gather 10 or more people when screening the films. Share these stories in your living room, classroom, community center, or theater and talk about the issues they bring up. And then, "pay it forward." Offer the DVD to someone else, and participate in this ongoing experiment in generosity.

The Global Oneness Project is exploring how the radically simple notion of interconnectedness can be lived in our increasingly complex world. Since 2006, we've been traveling the globe gathering stories from creative and courageous people who base their lives and work on the understanding that we bear great responsibility for each other and our shared world. California Satsang June 12-16, 2009

We were delighted to have members of all three California Satsang groups-- South, North, and Bay Area-- together at the House of Prayer in Carmel, California for the Summer Satsang. Sr. Ishpriya was with us, along with Gitti and, for one day, Hubert Hesse. We had the opportunity to talk with Hubert and each other about the ways that Satsang contacts can be extended through the Internet and blogs like this one.

Sr. Ishpriya's Pravachans (reflections) invited us to consider what it means to commit to "spiritual awareness and practice," in the transformative journey. She reminded us that Satsang is not a community "in the Western sense," but a place to meet companions who are seeking to stay on the same track. On the third day, she took advantage of the fact that it was Patrick's birthday to consider the way that birthdays mark our steps along the spiritual journey.

The days included times for meditation, reading, and conversation, as well as opportunities for walking on the beach or wandering the beautiful grounds of the House of Prayer.

Our evening gatherings created space for us to talk more deeply about our personal experiences and to learn from one another's insights. "When have you experienced a moment of clear awareness?" "What is the question that drives your life?" "How might the members of Satsang around the world be connected more meaningfully?"

For quiet spaces, for good companions, for delicious (vegetarian) food, and for the hospitality of the House of Prayer, we are all grateful!
